Preparing for your Mammogram
- Schedule your mammogram appointment through your doctor’s office. Let the scheduler know if you have breast implants, as these exams take a little more time. If you are breastfeeding, please wait until six months after you have stopped breastfeeding to schedule your appointment.
- Schedule your screening when your breasts are the least tender, usually a week after your menstrual period, to reduce any possible discomfort during the exam.
- Please do not wear deodorant or antiperspirant to your appointment, as the chemicals can interfere with the reading of your results.
- If this is your first visit to our center, but you have had mammograms in the past, please bring two years of prior images from earlier screenings so our radiologists can compare the images. Please bring the dates of the screenings and any other prior breast treatment information with you.
- You will receive your results within 7-10 days. Please call our office at (678) 500-7120 if you do not receive your results within this timeframe.
- If you are having any breast problems, please discuss them with your provider prior to making a mammogram appointment. We may need to refer you elsewhere for a diagnostic mammogram.
